Turkey
Turkey
is a country of true beauty with breathtaking scenery and a wonderful
array of experiences waiting to be explored. It is known as the
Cradle of Civilization, in fact many civilizations have been here
since before 6,500 BC.
Turkey is central
to Europe, to Asia, to Russia, and to the Middle East. It also borders
3 major seas, the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean in the west
and the Mediterranean in the south. Turkey has a coastline stretching
for over 8,000 kilometres.
Turkey has a
population of approximately 71 million with 75% of the population
under 35 and covers an area of around 800,000 square kilometres.
There are three
major mountainous regions which dominant the landscape in Turkey.
The Pontic mountains in the north, the Taurus mountains which dominant
the Mediterranean to the south and finally Mount Agri (old Ararat)
in the east, where Noah's Ark is proposed to have landed, which
is 5,137 metres form sea level.
Two of the Seven Wonders
of the World are in Turkey, the Temple of Artemis in Efes and Mausoleum
at Halicarnassus in Bodrum.
Modern Turkey has excellent
marinas, extremely high quality hotels and restaurants, bustling
food and clothes markets, top quality nightclubs, a fantastic climate
with over 300 days of sunshine, and all the sport and leisure activities
one can imagine.
When visiting
Turkey the hospitality shown by the Turkish people allows all nations
to relax and have a wonderful time in the land were dreams became
reality. Turkey is approximately 4 hours flight from Manchester,
thus very accessible. Let your dreams become a reality, explore
Turkey and all the wonders it offers.
Education The
Turkish education is of a high standard since the system was restructured
in 1997 to accommodate the vibrant and dynamic country. At present
there is no charge for children which attend a state school. As
in the UK education for children is compulsory. The secondary education
system is for three years and is applied for after completing secondary
school. In order for students to go to university they are required
to pass an examination set by the universities. Approximately 1.5
million students apply to the Turkish universities each year and
only around 250,000 pass the examinations which are very demanding.
With more people
choosing to live in Turkey the government has opened up numerous
international schools were English is spoken. There are also schools
which cater for children with various special needs.
Health
Care
The Turkish health system is regarded by many to be of a high standard.
The health system also has a sickness insurance service that cover’s
all of the citizens. Throughout the Turkish hospitals and dentistry’s
the English language is spoken.
Turkey
Average temperatures

Climate
Turkey has a
wonderful climate all year round with over 300 days of sunshine.
In addition it also has over 1,500 kilometres of Mediterranean coastline
which will surely promote an out door lifestyle that so many of
us desire. In the Eastern Mediterranean region the summer climate
is very hot and dry, during the winter months the climate is warm
and mild with most of the rain fall only from November to February.
The average summer temperature is around 86° - 105° F (30°
- 40° C) and in the winter the average temperature is usually
above 50° F (10° - 19° C). Therefore you can sunbath
for nine months of the year with the excellent climate that Turkey
has especially in the eastern Mediterranean region. The Antalya
region of Turkey is also a new comer for the winter sun destinations
now competing with the likes of Tenerife and Cyprus.
