Health
care
Health care in Spain is excellent. As with the UK, Spain has a public
health system which provides free or low cost health care for those
contributing to Spanish social security system and their families.
The system also caters for retirees and includes those from other
EU countries. The areas biggest hospital is in Denia in the Northern
Costa Blanca and there are three main hospitals in Torrevieja, the
newest and biggest in San Jaime which opened in 2001. There are
no waiting lists and it is interesting to note that there are more
than two and a half times as many doctors per head than here in
the UK.
Cost
of living
The cost of living in Spain is considerably lower than that in the
UK. Mild winters mean that heating fuel bills are lower, with electricity,
gas and water charges around half of those in Britain. Medical services
are provided free of charge on a reciprocal basis with the UK.
Education
Spain is well known for its high standard of education. Most of
our clients experiences have been positive for those who have enrolled
their children in to local Spanish schools from a young age as this
enables them to quickly grasp the language and integrates them in
to the Spanish way of life.
Recreation
and leisure
Spain has a lot more to offer than just sunshine, sand and sea.
There are many fantastic attractions and beautiful sights around
the area and it is an ideal location for a range of sports. With
a superb winter climate you can enjoy your favourite sports all
year round!

- Golf
- For
some it is a dream to live and play golf all year round, or enjoy
the social life that can come with owning a property on one of
these exclusive on-course developments. For others the thought
of retiring in luxury and style makes the Costa Blanca the perfect
place to fulfil your dreams.
The area
is an absolute haven for golfers with nearly 30 golf courses
currently available between the Valencian region and the La
Manga on the Costa Calida. If you enrol in to an English Golfing
Society, discounts of up to 50% are available when playing on
courses further afield.
With the
advent of a burgeoning 'Golf Coast'; south of Alicante which
boasts 15 established 18 hole championship golf courses and
another 10 now underway - the Costa Blanca and Costa Calida
regions have become a mecca for golfing enthusiasts with a large
proportion seeking to invest in a holiday retreat or retiring
to Spain. Who can blame them considering the Costa Blanca has
a consistent track record of 320 of sunshine per year with an
average temperature of 20 degrees.
- Bowls
- There are a number of bowling clubs on the Costa Blanca, offering
a wide range of different greens and competition to suit all players
with excellent social facilities.
- Eating
out - There are a wide variety of restaurants, tapas
bars and cafés in every town on the Costa Blanca. The cost
of eating out obviously varies considerably between the small
bodegas and cafes serving tapas and light meals to modern stylish
restaurants serving international cuisine. Restaurants are broadly
split into 2 types - those serving primarily tourists and those
serving the locals.
- Shopping
and markets - The markets in Spain are well worth a visit
with a range of fresh produce and locally made goods available.
Supermarkets and larger hypermarkets can be found everywhere,
where you can stock up on the necessities.
- Festivals
and fiestas - Fiestas are still an important part of
tradition and Spanish heritage which is inherent in their culture
and way of life today. Magnificent firework displays are popular
with the Spanish as are religious festivals. Fiestas in Spain
are held regularly in January, February, April, May, June, July,
August, October and December and are a must for any resident or
visitor to Spain.
- Nightlife
- Experience the diverse nightlife in each town from Café
Bars to Restaurants and for those who like to party the night
away, many nightclubs offer music and drinks until the early hours.
